As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads slowly across our country, all states have to be proactive in providing solutions to the problems caused by lacking healthcare in our society. Countries like Italy, the US and Spain have been struggling to provide infrastructure in hospitals to support the discovered cases of the Coronavirus. One major piece of equipment needed to fight COVID-19 and to save the lives of infected patients are respiratory ventilators. The cost of one ventilator is said to be at least N9 million naira and even if there are funds to purchase more, its not certain if the number of these available in Kwara state is enough to prepare the state for the worst.
Due to this, the iLab in partnership with the Kwara State Government is opening a challenge for mechanical and design engineers to design a prototype for a low-cost ventilator. Please fill the form below with your details and picture/video of your prototype.
